Grigor Dimitrov has secured a straight-sets win over Fabio Fognini to advance through to the third round of the Monte Carlo Masters.
The Bulgarian managed to save 15 of 17 break points in his meeting against Fernando Verdasco, but he found things a little easier against his 28th-in-the-world opponent Fognini this afternoon.
A break of serve in the second game of the contest allowed Dimitrov to grab an early hold of things, and despite seeing his 4-1 advantage close in slightly, he still managed to take the opener 6-3.
Fognini lost his service game in the early throes of the second set, and an improved Dimitrov did not look back to claim a 6-4 win and progress through with relative ease.
Stanislas Wawrinka, who beat Juan Monaco earlier today, now awaits in the next round.
