Stanislas Wawrinka has grabbed a place in the third round of the Monte Carlo Masters with a 6-1 6-4 victory over Juan Monaco.
The Swiss player managed to go a break up at the first time of asking, and despite Monaco eventually saving two break points in the fourth game, he lost serve once again shortly afterwards.
After going a set up, Wawrinka stumbled briefly by losing his opening service game in the second set, but he immediately broke back to keep himself in contention.
Monaco struck again with a break in the sixth game, but Wawrinka kept his composure and sealed a double break, which was enough to push him to victory and into the next round.
