Milos Raonic has swept past Joao Sousa to book his place in the last 16 of the Monte Carlo Masters.
The fourth seed prevailed by a 6-3 7-6(4) scoreline to set up a third-round match with Tommy Robredo.
Raonic won their only previous meeting on clay in 2011, and he always looked on course for a routine victory by allowing his opponent just four return points throughout an opening set which he won with one break of serve.
The Portuguese player improved during the second, but despite taking the set to a tie-break, Raonic finished strongly to wrap up the win.
