Boris Becker has revealed that Novak Djokovic's hunger for glory at the Australian Open "surprised" him.
The Serb beat Rafael Nadal in a five-set thriller to retain his title in Melbourne, recording his third successive Grand Slam final victory over the Spaniard.
"I was a bit surprised for him to win the title because I thought the competition is tough," Becker told Eurosport.
"Federer wants it, Murray wants it and certainly Nadal wanted it in the final - but Djokovic has proven to everybody why he is the number one player in the world and all credit to him.
"Now he's the only one that could actually do the Grand Slam, so if he wins the French Open, it will be another milestone for him."
Djokovic, 24, is now aiming to emulate Rod Laver and become only the second man to complete the Grand Slam.
