Novak Djokovic has confirmed that he intends to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics as he goes in search of a first-ever gold medal at the Games.

The Serbian's return to the court has been shrouded in uncertainty due to his COVID-19 vaccine stance, as well as his participation in future Grand Slams and Olympic tournaments.

Djokovic is yet to claim an Olympic gold medal in spite of his 20 Grand Slam titles, but the 34-year-old has insisted that he plans to go for the crown in two years' time.

Speaking to Radio Television of Serbia, Djokovic said: "An Olympic medal, especially gold, is always a big wish.

"I rewound my match with Zverev in Tokyo many times, trying to figure out what went wrong. I played superbly up to that point, but I did feel I was running on fumes, both mentally and physically."

Djokovic took a bronze medal at the 2008 Games but was forced to settle for fourth at London 2012 and Tokyo 2020, losing to Pablo Carreno Busta in straight sets in the bronze medal match after defeat to Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals last year.

However, the 20-time Grand Slam winner has insisted that he would be willing to miss more major tournaments if a COVID-19 vaccine was a requirement to play. body check tags ::
