Andy Murray says that his gruelling six-week schedule has been "very beneficial" having given him "a lot of confidence" in his own body again.

Andy Murray has admitted that he has "gained a lot of confidence" in his own body following a gruelling recent schedule.

The world number eight has won 18 matches and three tournaments over the last six weeks, which has put him on course to qualify for the ATP World Tour Finals in London next month.

Victory at Shenzhen in China kick-started the impressive run, which culminated in a thrilling Valencia Open final triumph over Tommy Robredo last weekend.

"Shenzhen was a tough week for a number of reasons," the Daily Mail quotes Murray as saying. "But I knew that after the US Open I needed to start winning again and that's why I said I wanted to start playing tournaments, whether smaller or not.

"If I wasn't beating guys who were inside the top 20 in the world, I didn't care, I just wanted to win. Then I started beating top-level opposition, which I wasn't early in the year.

"It's been a long six weeks but it's been very beneficial for me. I gained a lot of confidence in my body again from playing this much, and then also from winning a lot of tough, long, close matches, especially the three finals."

Murray will take on Julien Benneteau in the Paris Masters on Wednesday.
