Novak Djokovic is on course to claim the Rome Open title after reaching the semi-finals by defeating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-5 6-1.
The world number one managed to snatch a one-set lead after just under an hour of play by edging out Tsonga following a tough contest in the early stages of the quarter-final clash.
The Frenchman put pressure on the number one seed instantly but Djokovic's form allowed him to control the clay court and take the advantage.
Despite Tsonga's attempts to make a statement in the first set, the number five seed slumped as the game went on while his Serbian opponent eased through the early stage of the second set.
The Frenchman failed to push himself back into contention and Djokovic booked his semi-final spot with a strong finish.
