Novak Djokovic has suffered a three-set defeat to Martin Klizan in the second round of the Barcelona Open.
The former world number one is trying to find some form ahead of next month's French Open, but the 30-year-old has been dealt a further blow in his preparations for Roland Garros.
Klizan - the current world number 140 - had to come through qualifying at the tournament and had previously only taken one set in nine attempts against Djokovic, but the Slovakian broke serve on three occasions to take the opener.
Djokovic dominated the second as he dropped just seven points, but Klizan regained the momentum in the decider to run out a 6-2 1-6 6-3 winner.
Since the Australian Open, Djokovic has lost four of his six matches on the ATP Tour and the 12-time Major winner now faces the prospect of competing in just two more tournaments ahead of the second Grand Slam of the year.
