Britain's Johanna Konta has suffered a straight-sets defeat to Agnieszka Radwanska in the final of the China Open.
The British number one enjoyed a fine run in Beijing by making it all the way, earning a place in the world's top 10 in the process.
Radwanska proved to be one step too far for Konta, however, as she fell to a 6-4 6-2 loss in Sunday morning's showdown to let the biggest title shot of her career to date slip away.
It could have been a different story had Konta taken her big opening in the first set as, having recovered from 5-2 down, she failed with a volley to level up at 5-5 with her opponent taking the crucial point.
The 11th seed lost serve on two occasions in the second set, too, with Radwanska saving both break points and holding throughout to add another title to her collection.
