Rafael Nadal secured the title in the ATP Barcelona Open with a 7-6 7-5 victory over fellow Spaniard David Ferrer in the climax of the competition.
The world number one struggled in the early stages against his opponent, with Ferrer moving into a 2-0 lead in the opening set.
Nadal recovered, however, and the match remained on course at 6-6, but Nadal demonstrated his vast ability in the tie-break, securing it 7-1 in spectacular fashion.
Ferrer refused to be beaten early in the second set, and came from a break down to tie the match at 3-3, before moving 4-5 ahead.
Nadal won it with three straight games, however, eventually securing the win with a powerful backhand.
