Former world number one Novak Djokovic remains on course for Shanghai Masters glory after reaching the quarter-finals of the competition thanks to a 6-3 6-3 victory over Feliciano Lopez.
The Serbian professional started off strongly and controlled the court with swift returns and lofting forehands to snatch an early break and hold his serve.
Lopez was unable to find an answer and was forced onto the backfoot, while Djokovic broke once again to secure the opening set.
Both competitors held their serves in the first few matches in the second set but it was Djokovic once again who broke his opponent and managed to maintain his dominance to win the match and book a place in the final eight.
