Good afternoon and welcome to Sports Mole's live commentary from day one of the US Open in New York.
This tournament marks the last chance for a player to win a Grand Slam title this year and as a result it promises to be an exciting fortnight at Flushing Meadows.
Today the likes Andy Murray, Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka will all grace the courts.

5.56amWell that's that for day one from Flushing Meadows. There has already been plenty of drama, grit, blood, sweat and determination on show, as well as some flashes of class from Andy Murray and Roger Federer. Novak Djokovic begins his defence tomorrow - so join us from 4pm!
