British youngster Liam Broady has admitted that he is unsure how to feel following his defeat in the US open boys' final earlier today.
The 18-year-old managed to take pre-tournament favourite Filip Peliwo the distance at Flushing Meadows before he was beaten by his Canadian opponent 7-5 in the deciding set.
Having gained the experience of reaching his first junior Slam at Wimbledon last year, Broady has revealed that he is "very disappointed" not to have claimed the title in New York this time around.
"At Wimbledon last year I was obviously excited but it was my first slam final and I was almost happy to be there," Broady told reporters.
"This year I came here to win the tournament so I am obviously very disappointed. But if someone had said to me a month ago, 'You're going to be in the final of the US Open,' I'd have taken it."
Broady has also confirmed that he will now move up to the Futures Tour, which is the first step on the professional circuit.
