Good afternoon and welcome to Sports Mole's live text coverage from day ten at the 126th Wimbledon Championships.
Today is dedicated to the ladies' semi-finals, with Angelique Kerber and Agnieszka Radwanska due up on Centre Court at 1pm today, which will be followed by Serena Williams's clash with Victoria Azarenka.
While we will discover the ladies' finalists by the end of today's play, the gentlemen's final will not be decided until tomorrow when British hopeful Andy Murray takes on Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Roger Federer battles against Novak Djokovic in a mouth-watering lineup at SW19.
We have ALL the semi-final action covered here.
16.28Right, that's our coverage done for the day! Thank you for joining me and I hope you enjoyed the action from ladies' semi-finals day! Come back tomorrow to follow our live text coverage of the gentlemen's semi-final contests. 16.27But while you're waiting, read our match report from Radwanska's victory over Kerber earlier this afternoon, as well as Williams's win over Azarenka. 16.24The order of play will be released later this evening so stay tuned to Sports Mole to find out who is up first on Centre Court. 16.23Just a reminder that Roger Federer will take on Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray will battle Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for a spot in the final tomorrow. 16.21So, Radwanska and Williams make up the Ladies' singles final and we'll discover the Gentlemen's final tomorrow! 16.20Williams on her semi-final victory: "I'm excited, I've been working so hard and I really wanted it. Victoria is a great player and she was playing really well. I'm glad I was able to get through. I was just happy to get through that second set tie-break." 16.17We'll have to see if Radwanska can handle Williams's serve this weekend. The four-time champion secured 24 aces in this match! 16.15Well, you have to say that Williams deserved that last spot in the final. She was a force to be reckoned with! Her serve was unstoppable and while Azarenka was a worthy opponent, the 22-year-old couldn't come up with answers to the American's attack. 16.13GAME SET AND MATCH! It had to be an ace didn't it?! Serena Williams secures a 6-3 7-6[6] victory in the semi-final against Victoria Azarenka. Williams will compete for her fifth Wimbledon crown against Agnieszka Radwanska on Saturday. 16.12And we're back on match point with Williams serving on 7-6! 16.11And she wastes it! Williams had the chance to seal the victory but hits a wayward shot and gives Azarenka the chance to get back into this game. 6-6 in the tie-break. 16.11Williams is on match point after Azarenka hits the ball into the net. 16.10Well, Williams reponds instantly with her 23rd ace. 5-5 in the tie-break. 16.10A sweeping forehand gives Azarenka the lead 5-4, with Williams up next to serve. 16.094-4 as Williams hits long from Azarenka's powerful serve. 16.09A spinning forehand stays just inside the line, which gives Williams a 4-3 lead in the tie-break. 16.07A fantastic shot down the line from Williams equals the tie-break on 3-3. 16.073-2 Azarenka with a powerful serve that Williams fails to return. 16.06Azarenka levels up on 2-2 after Williams slams her shot on to the edge of the net, which bounces up into the crowd. 16.05The biggest grunt of the afternoon from Williams as she takes the tie-break to 1-1 with a backhand and subsequently takes a 2-1 lead with an ace. 16.04Azarenka gets the first point with a strong serve, which Williams can't respond to. 16.03But that clearly didn't bother her as she scores another ace to take the second set to a tie-break. 16.03She may have gained two points but she has just lost two in a row as well after hitting out and then firing into the net. 16.02Williams is definitely not holding back on these serves. Two aces in quick succession! 16.00Arguably Azarenka's best service game of the match so far. Has she improved her game at just the right time? Azarenka leads 6-5 in the second, trailing by one set to Williams. 15.59Two excellent shots down the line gives Azarenka a 40-0 lead. She has definitely upped her game! 15.58Hold on, there was an ace and it wasn't from a Williams serve! Azarenka gets her first one after 81 minutes. 15.57Williams secures the game with, yes you guessed it...an ace! It's now 5-5 in the second set with Williams sitting with a one-set advantage. 15.56Williams gets the first point after forcing Azarenka to hit long and then the second with a mighty strong serve. 15.54Azarenka does retain her serve and takes the lead 5-4 in the second. She can level on sets if she manages to break Williams in the next game. 15.52Every time Williams slips, she responds instantly with a spinning forehand. She has perfected that shot! But Azarenka gets one back and its 30-15 to the 22-year-old old on her serve. 15.51Azarenka is also executing some powerful serves as Williams struggles to return and can't get her shot over the net. 15.50Azarenka got a point back but the Belarusian fails to return the American's strong serve and Williams levels the set on 4-4. 15.49Yet another ace and perfect backhand from Williams gives the American just one point to hold her serve. 15.48Was that another ace from Williams? Of course it was! I don't think anybody could handle this from Williams. 15.46Azarenka holds serve! She is putting up a fight here and urges herself on after Williams fires her shot long. Williams still leads by a set but the second set goes to 4-3 in Azarenka's favour. 15.46Advantage Azarenka! Williams slams the ball into the net after failing to return her opponent's serve. 15.45Back to deuce! Williams is left disappointed as her forehand just scraps over the line and gets called out. 15.44A fantastic rally in this match, which ends sourly for Azarenka as she shoots the ball into the net and gives Williams yet another break point. 15.43And she fails to convert! Azarenka launches a strong serve, which Williams can't contend with and we go to deuce. 15.43But wait, we're back on break point for Williams! 15.42Ah, but then Williams fores into the net, which allows Azarenka to get back into this game. 15.41She's working hard but Azarenka hits long and gifts Williams the lead, who could get another break to negate Azarenka's earlier triumph. 15.40Williams responds instantly once again as a strong backhand forces Azarenka to fire into the net. 15.40Azarenka is definitely buoyed by that break as she pushes forward on her backhand shot to take the first point on her service game. 15.39Could this be a key moment for Azarenka? She handles the second serve and breaks Williams to level the second set at 3-3 with the American leading by one set. 15.38But its back to advantage for Azarenka after Williams's backhand goes long. 15.37Well that didn't last long... Williams takes the game to deuce with her 15th ace. 15.37Cheers from the crowd for Azarenka as she gets to break point for the first time in this clash. 15.36Yet another ace goes from Williams goes flying past Azarenka to take the game to 30-30. 15.35Azarenka gets a good early return from Williams's serve, which is what she will need to do to get a break in this second set. 15.32And she does hold serve! Williams's return was not quite as good as her previous after she slams the ball into the net to allow Azarenka to change the set scoreline to 3-2 in favour of the American. 15.32But Azarenka is not out of this game yet. She is a point away from retaining her serve after Williams hits the ball out. 15.30Just too good from Williams! She must have been working on her returns because yet another backhand sweeps past Azarenka for a crucial point. 15.30Azarenka getting frustrated with herself after she hits the ball too far and relinquishes a point to her opponent but Williams fires into the net to give Azarenka some breathing space. 15.29But Azarenka didn't have enough in that game to trouble Williams, who takes the game with two successive aces. 15.28Williams should have clinched the game with a backhand down the line but shoots wide following a strong forehand from Azarenka. 15.26A strong backhand was too quick for Azarenka to deal with and Williams looks on her way to going 3-1 up in the second. 15.26A wonderful second serve ace from Williams levels the game at 15-15. 15.24We all know about Azarenka's fight so there's no way that the Australian Open winner will give up but Williams is looking clinical and strong. 15.23Wow. Surely the shot of the match! Williams breaks the 22-year-old's serve with a thumping return from Azarenka, which the Belarusian had no chance of responding to. Williams leads 2-1 in the second with a one-set advantage. 15.22Williams is on break point now. What can Azarenka do to secure this game? 15.21Brilliant play from the Belarusian, which is matched by Williams, who clinches a forehand return. 15.21Another double fault from Azarenka! 15.20A 10th ace from Williams and an error from Azarenka gives the American the game, making the second set 1-1 with Azarenka up to serve. 15.18What a response from Williams! A serve of 119mph leaves Azarenka behind but a forehand shot flies out of bounds, which takes the game to deuce. 15.18Azarenka is taking advantage of Williams's decisions to come to the net as she takes the game to 30-30 with a backhand slice. 15.17Azarenka will be kicking herself as she hits the ball long, despite having enough time to find a spot behind her American opponent. It's 30-15 on Williams's serve. 15.16A comedian in the crowd there mocking Azarenka's pigeon-like grunt. It received some chuckles from the crowd but nothing from Azarenka as you'd expect... 15.14Azarenka rallying herself on as she executes a strong forehand to the left side of the court and subsequently forces Williams to shoot wide, which allows Azarenka to hold serve. 15.13Williams hits too hard from the baseline, which misses the boundaries and gifts a point to Azarenka with the game sitting 30-30. 15.12The Australian Open winner gets us underway in the second set and she loses a point instantly after missing her second serve but manages to regain a 15-15 scoreline. 15.12Interestingly Azarenka hasn't dropped a set throughout the whole tournament. Until now of course... 15.11The American looks completely focused and is in great form! Although Azarenka is playing well, she is struggling to handle Williams's serve. 15.10SET! A pumping fist in the air from Williams as she grabs a one-set lead following an impressive 6-3 win in the opener. 15.08Williams hits the serve at 109mph, which Azarenka can't handle but she manages to respond on the next serve to grab a point back. 15.08A point is lost for the American as she hits behind the baseline, with Azarenka determined to get a break back. 15.07The four-time champion gets two aces in a row as she serves for the first set. 15.06Wow! Williams gets the break after she launches to the net to execute a backhand, which Azarenka fails to meet. 15.05A sweeping forehand from Williams gives the American just one point to snatch the first break of the contest. 15.04A strong return from Williams doesn't give Azarenka time to react and she relinquishes a point to the American, who currently leads 30-15. 15.03Williams slips after running to catch the ball at the net and fires wide to give Azarenka the point in her service game. 15.01A great lofting shot over the net from Williams gives the American a 40-0 lead, which she converts and snatches the game, taking the set 4-3. 15.01Williams holding her serve well here and she's sticking to her routine of bouncing the ball seven times before serving. 14.59Azarenka takes the advantage again from a Williams error and manages to see out the game and level the set on 3-3. 14.58A scream of "Come on!" from Azarenka as she nabs the advantage but Williams responds instantly with a short forehand to take it to deuce. 14.57But Williams fires back with a powerful backhand, which prevents Azarenka from getting enough strength behind the ball to get the shot away. 14.57Williams fires wide and Azarenka grabs a 40-30 lead on her serve. 14.56Williams goes 30-15 up on Azarenka's second serve after launching a strong strike, which the 22-year-old cannot meet in time. 14.55A surprise wayward serve from Azarenka there, which forces her to relinquish a point. I'm not sure if the sun was in her eyes or just poor placement. 14.54Both players look very focused but it's worth noting that Williams is not grunting...yet... 14.53An easy game for the American. Williams leads 3-2 in the first set after securing the game without dropping a point. The 30-year-old is looking strong on the infamous court. 14.52It's that serve again! Williams has six aces so far in this semi-final. 14.51Williams drives to the net to slam a shot into the right side of the court and nab the opening point. 14.50But Azarenka does just enough to hold serve and take the opening set 2-2. 14.49Wow. Williams barely moved as she launched a forehand down the line to clinch the point and take it 40-30. 14.49But Azarenka is responding well and she sits 40-15 on her serve. 14.48Williams is known for hitting precise offensive shots while on the move and she looks like she's implementing that part of her game early on here. 14.47Williams gets a point back after she fires a sweeping forehand shot from the corner of the court. 14.46Azarenka loses her first challenge as her first serve was correctly called out. 14.45The first glimpse of Venus Williams in the crowd as she arrives to support her sister. You'll remember that Venus was knocked out in the first round at SW19. 14.44Williams forces Azarenka to shoot wide and the four-time champion takes a 2-1 lead in the first set. 14.43Williams has lived up to her powerful serve so far in this clash. The American has a whopping 63 aces under her belt! (Not in this game alone I might add...) 14.43But the Australian Open champion holds her serve after Williams fires the return into the net. 14.42Azarenka gets a double fault to gift Williams a point, which makes the game 40-15. 14.41Azarenka forces Williams to shoot the ball over the baseline, which gives the Belarusian a 30-0 lead in her opening service game. 14.40Azarenka is getting some chuckles from the crowd from what can only be described as a pigeon-like grunt... 14.39A mighty ace from Williams grabs the opening game, with Azarenka next up to serve. 14.39Perfect shot down the line from Serena, who looks on top in this opening game. 14.38Powerful serve from Williams there and she takes it to 30-30 with a strong backhand across the court. 14.37And the grunting begins... Both players get on the scoreboard with 15-15 in the first game. 14.36Here we go then! Williams to serve the start of the opening set. 14.35Both of them are fearless so expect some big hitting and heavy grunting in this contest! 14.33Williams is the favourite to snatch this game but now that Azarenka has a grand slam title under her belt, I tip her do give the American a run for her money. 14.32Both players are warming up on Centre Court as we speak under some glorious sunshine! 14.31She'll be determined to equal her sister's Wimbledon titles of five but then again Azarenka can snatch the number one spot from Maria Sharapova. 14.30Right, let's switch our attentions to the second semi-final then! As mentioned earlier, Williams has dominated the previous meetings between the two - taking seven wins out of eight. 14.28Well, I think we're likely to see a bit more emotion from Williams or Azarenka in the next few minutes. Barely a hint of a smile from Radwanska but she got the job done! 14.24Radwanska on reaching the final: "I think this is what I was dreaming of since I was a kid. Everybody dreams to play in a grand slam final. It's the best two weeks of my career." 14.21So now we know the first competitor for the final. Who will Radwanska meet this weekend?? It's between Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka, who are on Centre Court next! 14.20I'm joking, of course! A shame for Kerber, who tried to impose her game but Radwanska had answers for every attack from the German. 14.19No nerves for the 23-year-old, who performed a composed and understated game. Not much emotion from the Polish pro though, maybe she doesn't know that was the Wimbledon semi-final...? 14.18GAME SET AND MATCH! Yes she can! Radwanska is into the Wimbledon final for the first time in her career as she secures a 6-3 6-4 victory. 14.18Radwanska on match point after Kerber again fires wide. Can she wrap it up here? 14.1730-15 after Kerber fires behind the baseline and Radwanska is two points away from the final! 14.16But Radwanska takes the game to 15-15 with a vital point. 14.15Another long rally but Kerber prospers after Radwanska failed to meet the ball. A shout of "Come on!!" echoes around the court for the German. 14.14Radwanska loses her point after Kerber challenged an ace, which was incorrectly called in. 14.13Kerber holds but Radwanska is about to serve for the match and spot in the Wimbledon final. 14.11A challenge from Kerber comes to nothing as the ball was correctly called out but Kerber clinches her second ace of the match to go 30-15. 14.11A strong start from Kerber in her game as she runs up to the net to hit a short forehand with Radwanska in no position to meet it. 14.10Radwanska holds her game and takes the second set 5-3 and if she manages to break Kerber she will be in the Wimbledon final! 14.09Radwanska's low shots are proving to be a problem for Kerber as she fires yet another ball into the net. 14.08Kerber keeps it in but fails to get back to the baseline in time to clinch the point. Seems as though the German gave up before the rally was even over! 14.06A fierce shot down the line holds the game for Kerber. She remains in contention in this set but still trails by 4-3 in the second. 14.05A wayward shot from Kerber takes the game to deuce and the German has to hold here otherwise she's in danger of a semi-final exit. 14.03While Kerber is displaying some impressive shots, Radwanska's movement around the court is dominating play and she is refusing to back down. 14.03Well played from Kerber as she gets the angle perfectly on a backhand shot to grab the first point on her serve. A strong fist-pump from the German. 14.02And she takes the 4-2 lead in the second set! It's heartbreak for Kerber after she relinquished the advantage to take the break. 14.01A short forehand gives Radwanska the advantage. She'll want to take back the momentum with this next point. 14.01Kerber had the chance to break but the point goes back to deuce after she hits the ball out of Radwanska's second serve. 13.59An unbelievable rally between the pair with shots going wayward but both competitors managing to keep the ball in play. It was Kerber though who took the advantage to go to deuce on Radwanska's serve. 13.58Wow. Quick feet from Radwanska allows the number three seed to hit a backhand return from Kerber's shot and grab the point. 13.56Could be a comeback from Kerber here as she shoots a swift forehand, which sweeps straight past Radwanska to nab the point and go 30-30. 13.56Kerber is looking frustrated after Radwanska drives up to the net to launch a forehand to the right side of the court, misleading her opponent. 13.54Radwanska finds herself in the lead yet again as she grabs another break to go 3-2 up in the second. 13.53Interestingly Radwanska has an 80% success rate in this match from rallies, while Kerber sits at 20%. The German is trying to go for her shots early but Radwanska is finding the answers. 13.52Kerber struggling to handle the short balls and once again tries a forehand slice but the shot goes into the net. 13.51Radwanska takes the second 2-2 after a very strong game without losing any points. 13.50Radwanska is forcing Kerber around the court here and it seems as though the German will have to try to impose her own game to have a chance of overcoming the Polish pro. 13.47A fantastic shot down the line by Kerber goes completely missing by Radwanska and she managed to secure her serve to take the lead 2-1 in the second while trailing a set to her opponent. 13.46The first drop-volley goes to Kerber as she secures the opening point of her game followed by an ace to go 30-30. 13.45While Kerber has added power to her game, she seemed quite sluggish as Radwanska snatched her game to take the second to 1-1. 13.44Looks like Kerber's come out fighting! She took Radwanska's first point from the game but failed to secure a 30-0 lead as she hits wide. 13.43An easy claim for Kerber as she gets off to the best start possible for this set. 13.42A lovely forehand shot from Kerber hits down the line and secures a vital point. She's served well and sits 40-0 in the opening game of the second. 13.41And they're both up from the break for Kerber to kick of the second set. 13.41Oh, there's the first shot of Cliff Richard in the crowd. I'm sure part of him is hoping for rain... 13.39The contest is turning in Radwanska's favour with the Polish pro displaying a classic performance. Kerber will have to try to anticipate her opponent's attack in this second set. 13.38SET! Very easy from Radwanska as she seals the opening set 6-3 with an ace. 13.38The confidence is growing from Radwanska now as she reaches set point! 13.37Radwanska comes to the net this time but Kerber's shot sneaks behind the Polish pro to give Kerber a 30-15 advantage. 13.36Radwanska is controlling the court from the baseline and a return from Kerber finds the net yet again as she hits it too low. 13.35And she does get the break after Kerber hits the ball into the net. Radwanska will now serve out for the opening set. 13.34But after yet another baseline rally, Radwanska is one point away from another break. 13.34Perfect powerful backhand from Kerber bounces right past Radwanska to claim a point and take it to 30-30. 13.33Also, believe it or not but there is actually some sun in the sky! (Hopefully I haven't jinxed it) 13.32But she responds straight away with her first ace of the match. 13.32A swift backhand from the net gifts Radwanska the point on Kerber's serve. 13.31Relatively even here but you get the sense that Radwanska is coming into her own in this semi-final. 13.30Advantage to Radwanska as Kerber hits out, which she capitalises on and takes the game to 4-3 up in the opening set. 13.29A careless forehand from Radwanska gave Kerber the chance to break against but the Polish pro responds instantly and takes the game to deuce. 13.28Both committed great shots down the line for vital points as the game since 30-30 on Radwanska's serve. 13.27Great play from Radwanska, who is regularly coming to the net and taking advantage of Kerber's unforced errors. 13.26She manages to do it! The first set goes to 3-3 after Kerber's low return fails to climb over the net. 13.26Radwanska is definitely getting a grip on the game here and now has a chance to get the break back... 13.24A wonderful short back-swing from Kerber clinches a point to take it 15-15 but a lofting forehand from Radwanska dips over the line and takes the lead 30-15 on Kerber's serve. 13.23Kerber drops the first point in her serve as Radwanska looks to be coming into her own slightly and moving around the court well. 13.21Nope! Kerber hits the ball over the line and Radwanska holds her serve to take the first set to 3-2 in favour of Kerber. 13.21Radwanska hits her shot into the net again! Could Kerber be on her way to another break here? 13.20Quick feet from Kerber gives Radwanska too much to do and she takes a point to make it 40-15. 13.19Radwanska comes to the net and hits a shot down the line, which Kerber meets but it's too low and fires into the net to give Radwanska a 15-0 lead. 13.18Another comfortable game for Kerber, who now leads 3-1 in the opening set. She's looking very settled right now! 13.17Kerber shoots down the line and while Radwanska managed to find the backhand return, she shoots over the line to give Kerber a 40-0 lead. 13.16Although, I'd expect that there could be a few breaks in this game as neither are particularly strong on serve. 13.16And she's done it! Kerber gets the first break of the contest and leads the first set 2-1. 13.14A great rally there but Kerber committed to the net and managed to grab a vital point, leaving just one more to get the first break. 13.13But she reponds instantly with an ace to take it 30-15... 13.13Strong return from Kerber there, which forces Radwanska to fire into the net, making the game 15-15. 13.12A positive start from Kerber as well as she draws 1-1 on games without dropping a point. 13.11A crisp sweeping forehand from Kerber gives her a 30-0 lead as Radwanska fails to meet the ball in time. 13.10Kerber's return goes wide and Radwanska takes the first game. Now, the German sets up to serve. 13.10A confident start from Radwanska, who sits 40-0 in the first game of the opening set. 13.09Kerber hit a powerful ground stroke but missed the line and loses the point in Radwanska's opening serve. 13.08Here we go! The first semi-final of Wimbledon begins and Radwanska serves. 13.07An interesting analysis of Radwanska from Tracy Austin, who told BBC 2: "She struggled in the past because she lacked power but she's so consistent. She reminds me a little bit of Martina Hingis, she doesn't overpower her opponents, she picks them apart." 13.05It really is so hard to call this clash. Both are in similar form at the moment, so it definitely could go either way. It has all the makings for a tight battle. 13.04However, I'm sure we're all hoping that doesn't happen. Wimbledon is an outside tournament after all! 13.03Of course, if the rain does descend on SW19, the roof will be installed but that will cause a 30-40 minute delay. 13.03Both players are warming up on the court and the weather forecast looks positive for the rest of the day. Fingers crossed! 13.00Here they come! A nice warm welcome from the crowd in Centre Court. 12.58Right, the pair are waiting to get the green light to walk on to court. Surely the most nervous moment for the players. 12.58Kerber has won two titles this season so far, in Paris and Copenhagen, while Radwanska tips it slightly with three, which she won in Miami, Dubai and Brussels. Could be a tight one! 12.56Apparently Kerber and Radwanska are good friends off the court. Let's hope that doesn't change after today's contest... 12.54The German's last Wimbledon campaign ended in round one and she was ranked 100 in the world just 12 months ago! 12.53But it's all about the ladies today! Let's just consider what a feat it is for Kerber to reach the final four at SW19. 12.51The second semi-final is between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. What a mouth-watering tie that is! Could be a five-setter with both competitors on top of their game in this tournament. 12.50There's a lot of outside pressure on Murray to get to the final as he has already been dubbed the favourite in his semi-final clash with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. However, the Scotsman seems surprisingly relaxed in his demeanor. 12.48Let's just briefly remind you of yesterday's action. Andy Murray is still in contention for his first grand slam title (eeek!) after defeating David Ferrer in four sets. 12.47It's also worth noting that Radwanska can snatch the world number one ranking this weekend BUT that's only if she defeats Williams in the final. Perhaps getting a bit ahead of ourselves... 12.45In terms of the Williams vs. Azarenka match - a lot of people are backing Serena and following her recent health struggles I think the crowd could favour the four-time champion. 12.44Both games are difficult to call today! However, Radwanska has been slightly under the radar in this tournament and being the first Polish professional to reach the final four she will be determined to fight for that trophy. 12.41Williams will be buoyed by her win over the reigning champion Petra Kvitova, while Azarenka managed to cruise through a 6-3 6-4 victory over Tamira Paszek. 12.39Let's have a look at the ladies' quarter-final clashes that got them to the final four. Kerber overcame Sabine Lisicki in a tough contest, while Radwanska edged to victory over Maria Kirilenko. 12.35The second semi-final is less equal though, with Williams taking seven out of eight victories over Azarenka. However, the Belarusian will retain the number one ranking if she defeats the American. 12.34Kerber and Radwanska will take to Centre Court first at 1pm today, which could be an exciting contest given that in the four times they've met they each have won two games apiece. 12.30Hello all! I hope you're all ready for some semi-final action today. Today we will discover the final of the ladies' singles at Wimbledon, with Angelique Kerber or Agnieszka Radwanska due to battle Serena Williams or Victoria Azarenka for the coveted trophy.
