Russian president Vladimir Putin has congratulated Viktor Ahn on his success at the ongoing 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
The 28-year-old speed skater won the men's 500m event and the 5,000m team relay on Friday, adding to the gold and the bronze he had clinched in the 1,000m and 1,500m respectively.
"I congratulate you on your second brilliant triumph and a second gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi," the ITAR-TASS News Agency quotes the Russian president as writing in a telegram to Ahn.
"Once again, you have been faster and more technical than your rivals, literally snatching victory in a very complicated race."
Ahn, who won four medals for South Korea at the 2006 Torino Games, became a Russian citizen in 2011.
