Electronics maker Samsung has denied telling Swiss athletes to keep Apple-branded products hidden during the Sochi Winter Olympics opening ceremony.
The South Korean company, an Olympic sponsor, allegedly gave Galaxy Note 3s as gifts to the Swiss team ahead of the Games, before telling the athletes that, should they wish to use iPhones instead, they would have to cover up the Apple logo.
When Samsung was asked about this, it denied having ever told Sochi athletes to hide their iPhones in favor of their new gadgets, according to The Guardian.
"Samsung did not request any action of this nature from athletes attending the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics," said a spokesperson. "All commercial marketing around the games is overseen by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Samsung has not been involved in any decisions relating to branding of products used by athletes at the games."
Olympic competitors, while parading at opening ceremonies, have been known to capture the event on personal cameras.
