Barnsley score five times in the second half, including four goals for Craig Davies, to thrash Birmingham 5-0 at St Andrews.

Barnsley have thrashed Birmingham City 5-0 at St Andrews this afternoon courtesy of five second-half goals.

The visitors had the better chances of a quiet first half, with Chris Dagnall in particular causing problems. The striker had a trio of chances, all of which were saved by Jack Butland.

Barnsley were a lot more prolific in the second half, however, opening the scoring five minutes after the restart through Stephen Foster's close-range finish.

From thereonin it was the Craig Davies show. The striker got his first just three minutes after the deadlock was broken, Jacob Mellis squaring the ball to gift him a tap-in.

Five minutes later it was nearly 3-0 as Dagnall struck the post, but they would only have to wait two more minutes to extend the lead. Davies twisted and turned into the box before firing home in fine style.

Davies completed a 12-minute hat-trick in the 65th minute before adding yet another less than ten minutes later when he nodded in Dagnall's cross.

Things went from bad to worse for Birmingham with 15 minutes left when Pablo Ibanez was forced to leave the field through injury, reducing the hosts to 10 men as they had already used all three subs.

The result sees Barnsley rise to 12th in the Championship table, while Birmingham drop to 19th.
