Brentford make the trip to Huddersfield Town knowing that victory is required if they wish to remain in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, the Terriers head into Saturday's Championship fixture sitting seven points above the relegation zone after putting together a four-match unbeaten streak.

Match preview

At a time when Norwich City and Watford have been relentless in their bid for a return to the top flight, Brentford needed to follow suit to earn a first-ever appearance in the Premier League.

While a return of 11 points from six matches is a solid return in isolation, the Bees have lost ground on their rivals, increasing the need for a strong end to the campaign.

Thomas Frank has watched his side fail to build on leads against relegation candidates Derby County and Nottingham Forest, results which cannot have helped lift the mood behind the scenes.

Nevertheless, with a game in hand and Watford still to come on the penultimate weekend of the season, Frank and his squad know that they will stay in contention providing that they can get back to winning ways.

Top goalscorer Ivan Toney has gone 371 minutes without a goal from open play, his last three strikes all coming from the penalty spot.

Huddersfield have dropped into a relegation scrap in recent weeks, a consequence of claiming just two wins from their 16 Championship fixtures in 2021.

However, collecting six points from four games has kept the Yorkshire outfit away from the bottom three, strengthening Carlos Corberan's position in the dugout in the process.

Although Huddersfield find themselves in a similar position to last season, the powers-that-be at the John Smith's Stadium will be encouraged by the resolve shown by the Spaniard's squad.

Just one goal has been conceded during their last three fixtures, a run which has been put together on the back of 15 matches without a clean sheet.

Team News

Frank must decide whether to include Mads Bech Sorensen, who has been away with Denmark at the Under-21 European Championship.

However, Mathias Jensen should feature after remaining as an unused substitute for the senior squad against Austria, with Christian Norgaard featuring for just 13 minutes of the same game.

While Rico Henry is making good progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury, he is unlikely to start this fixture.

Huddersfield boss Corberan will hope that Pipa is available to feature after making three appearances for Spain Under-21s since March 24.

Aaron Rowe is on stand-by to deputise at left wing-back, while Isaac Mbenza is in line to return to the starting lineup.

Huddersfield Town possible starting lineup:
Schofield; Keogh, Sarr, Edmonds-Green; O'Brien, Bacuna, Hogg, Pipa; Holmes, Campbell, Mbenza

Brentford possible starting lineup:
Raya; Dalsgaard, Reid, Jansson, Sorensen; Dasilva, Jensen, Janelt; Mbeumo, Toney, Canos

We say: Huddersfield Town 1-2 Brentford

While the home side would be satisfied with a share of the spoils, the same cannot be said of the visitors. With that in mind, we expect a determined performance from Frank's side, who could potentially hold off the hosts after a strong start to proceedings.
