Stephen Warnock is confident that Neil Redfearn taking charge of Leeds United's first team can again result in an immediate upturn in fortunes for the Whites.

Stephen Warnock is confident that Neil Redfearn can get Leeds United back on track now that he has resumed management of the Championship strugglers.

Redfearn is in caretaker charge at Elland Road following the sacking of Darko Milanic and is expected to be given the job on a permanent basis in the coming days.

The Whites academy boss had previously guided Leeds to three wins from four games in between the tenures of Dave Hockaday and Milanic, and left-back Warnock is confident that Redfearn will pick up where he left off.

"He's obviously got the respect of the chairman, respect of the players," Warnock told the club's official website. "We've worked under him quite a few times, the lads who have been here for a longer period at the club.

"I think he's someone that the lads enjoy working for and hopefully he can get the best out of the team and try and turn things in the right way now.

"Training was good on Monday. I think he just knows that if he tries to keep the lads happy and gets them enjoying their football again, things will go well."

Redfearn is understood to have reached a verbal agreement with owner Massimo Cellino on a long-term contract to become Leeds manager.
