Sports Mole takes a closer look at West Brom's 4-0 thrashing of Burnley in the Premier League.

West Bromwich Albion picked up their first home win of the season on Sunday with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Burnley in the Premier League.

Craig Dawson opened the scoring for the hosts on 30 minutes before Saido Berahino doubled their lead on the stroke of half time.

Berahino found the net again 15 minutes after the restart, while Graham Dorrans sealed the points in stoppage time.

Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at the action between the two teams at The Hawthorns.

Was the result fair?

There can be no arguments against the result as West Brom dominated from start to finish. The Baggies were excellent throughout thanks to a confident all-round display, while Burnley barely threatened during the one-sided encounter.

West Brom's performance

Alan Irvine's side applied themselves superbly on Sunday, taking the game to Burnley and getting their just rewards. The hosts always looked to attack whenever they were on the ball, with Chris Brunt and Saido Berahino looking particularly dangerous. The passing was crisp, the tempo was quick and the movement was always purposeful. While they had little to do from a defensive point of view, the likes of Joleon Lescott and Andre Wisdom were solid for the majority of the match. The start of the season offered little joy for the Baggies, but they are now full of confidence and setting their sights on the teams above them in the table.

Burnley's performance

While Alan Irvine will be thrilled with his team's display, Burnley counterpart Sean Dyche can take little solace from what he saw from his at The Hawthorns. The Clarets were disorganised, sluggish and lacking in direction as they received a chastening defeat in the Midlands. West Brom were afforded far too much space and time in key areas such as central midfield, while Burnley's struggle to find the net continues. They have now failed to score in their last five Premier League matches - a statistic that should be of huge concern to Dyche and his players. More of these kind of performances and they will be back down in the Championship sooner rather than later.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Chris Brunt: The West Brom midfielder was being booed by his own fans a couple of weeks ago following a tepid showing against Everton, but it was all change for him against Burnley. He pulled the strings from central areas, picking out his teammates with some incisive passes and setting up Dawson for the home side's opener.

Biggest gaffe

Burnley midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah did himself no favours at the start of the second half as he was booked just a minute after coming off the bench with a poor challenge on opposite number Craig Gardner.

Referee performance

Jon Moss had a routine afternoon in the middle, allowing the game to flow at a steady pace. No controversy here, just a solid showing from the official.

What next?

West Brom: The Baggies continue their Premier League campaign on Saturday when they travel to Liverpool.

Burnley: The Clarets are back in action on Saturday with a trip to Leicester City in the Premier League.
