JaMarcus Russell has received "positive reviews" following a tryout with the Chicago Bears last week.
The former Oakland Raiders quarterback was one of three players invited to a workout with the NFC North team on Friday.
ESPNChicago.com reports that the 27-year-old had a "good, positive demeanor" and a "big arm" during the session, as he looks to secure a place with an NFL team for the first time since 2009.
Former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jordan Palmer and ex-Buffalo Bill Trent Edwards also took part in the tryout.
Russell recently lost over 50lbs in a bid to make a comeback in the league.
