The Oakland Raiders lose their seventh game of the season after slipping to a 23-13 defeat to the Cleveland Browns.

The Oakland Raiders have failed to secure their first win of the 2014 NFL season, losing 23-13 to the Cleveland Browns this evening.

The Raiders missed the chance to take the lead early on when Matt Schaub, acting as holder during a field goal, fumbled the snap, and attempted to rescue the situation with a pass, only to throw an interception to Tashaun Gipson.

The Browns started their drive from a strong field position, but could not get close to the endzone, leaving kicker Billy Cundiff to post the opening points with a 52-yard field goal.

Brian Hoyer found Jordan Cameron with the next Cleveland possession to try to get the Browns into a touchdown-scoring position, but the tight end's game was ended on the play as he picked up a concussion.

The AFC North side had to settle for a field goal again, and split the posts once more before the break, but two Sebastian Janikowski kicks kept the sides close at the break.

After a quiet start to the third quarter from both sides, Darren McFadden fumbled the ball to leave Cleveland in a strong position to score the opening touchdown of the tie.

With the second play of the fourth quarter, Hoyer picked out Andrew Hawkins with a short pass, and the wide receiver powered his way into the endzone, leaving the Browns 10 points ahead.

Derek Carr attempted to lead the Raiders back into the game in the final minutes, scrambling from the line of scrimmage in search of some yardage, but the quarterback ran into one of his own teammates, fumbling the ball to let the Browns back onto the field.

Cleveland immediately cashed in, as Hoyer handed the ball off to Ben Tate, leaving the running back to power over from five yards out.

The Raiders did manage to get a touchdown on the board just before the clock expired, with Carr finding Andre Holmes for a consolation in the final seconds of the game.

The result leaves the Raiders with an 0-7 record and the only team still looking for their first win of the season, while the Browns move to 4-3 to remain in contention in the AFC North division.
