Kayvon Webster sustained a thumb injury in the Denver Broncos' loss to the San Diego Chargers which will need surgery.
The cornerback picked up the knock during the 27-20 defeat but continued playing with his thumb strapped under his glove, although the medical team checked it several times during the game.
ESPN says that the rookie will undergo the operation later today, and is likely to miss next week's game against the Houston Texans, but should return for the regular season finale against the Oakland Raiders.
The 22-year-old has made 41 tackles, a forced fumble and an interception so far this season.
