Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has stated the importance of wide receiver Randall Cobb signing a new contract with the team.
Cobb has enjoyed an excellent season as Rodgers's second-choice target behind Jordy Nelson, surpassing four figure yardage for the first time in his career during the team's loss to the Buffalo Bills last Sunday.
As an important part of the offense, Rodgers has little doubt that Cobb should be rewarded with a new deal to ensure that he is with the team next season.
Speaking to a radio show on ESPN, the signal caller said: "He's a great player. I'm really happy that he went for over 1,000 yards for the first time last weekend.
"But generally, he's just so important to our offense. He can run routes around the outside, take the ball from the backfield. He does it all. He's a talented guy and a great teammate.
"He brings a great attitude everyday and he embodies the 'Packer way'. It's been fun to see these types of player get handed second contracts in Green Bay and Randall definitely deserves to be one of those."
Despite Nelson being Rodgers's primary target, the quarterback's 131.6 passer rating on throws to Cobb leads all quarterback-to-receiver combos this season.
