The Detroit Lions hammer the Green Packers 40-10 at home in the NFL.

The Detroit Lions have registered a comfortable 40-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field in the NFL.

The first points of the game came in the second quarter when David Akers entered the play for the Lions and converted a 27-yard field goal attempt to give his side a 3-0 lead.

The Packers responded with a field goal of their own from Mason Crosby, who converted a 54-yard effort.

However, the visitors went ahead when Nick Perry knocked the ball out of Matthew Stafford's hands, which allowed Morgan Burnett to pick up the ball and take it short to the endzone. Crosby converted the extra point to give them a 10-3 lead.

Jeremy Ross was able to level the score against his former team by catching his first touchdown pass after he lost his linebacker to make the play, and Reggie Bush came to the hosts' rescue by securing a running touchdown into the endzone, giving them the lead for the second time in the match.

The first half ended 17-10 to the Lions and after the interval it was all one-way traffic as Jim Schwartz's side dominated proceedings at home.

Calvin Johnson scored a touchdown with 9:08 minutes remaining in the third quarter after he caught the ball from Stafford, shrugged off two challenges and surged into the endzone.

The Lions earned two points on safety towards the end of the third quarter thanks to Ndamukong Suh's effort, before Joique Bell scored a touchdown in the early moments of the fourth.

Kevin Ogletree wrapped up the scoring for the Lions with just over four minutes left in the match with a 20-yard touchdown score, making a one-handed grab of the ball on the edge of the endzone.
