The Jacksonville Jaguars win their first game of the season as they secure a 29-27 away victory over the Tennessee Titans.

The Jacksonville Jaguars secured their first win of the season as they beat the Tennessee Titans 29-27 at LP Field.

The Titans had a nightmare start to the game as on the first handoff to Chris Johnson, the running back was stripped of the ball and the Jaguars linebacker Paul Posluszny gathered to set his side up inside the red zone. Chad Henne handed off to Maurice Jones-Drew, who opened the scoring with a six-yard run.

Jacksonville added another three points late in the first quarter when a drive from Henne stalled in the end zone and Josh Scobee was brought on to kick a 32-yard field goal, which he fired through the posts with ease.

Scobee added another three points to give his side a 13-point advantage and matters got worse for the Titans when quarterback Jake Locker was forced to leave the field.

However, they still managed to get on the scoreboard when backup Ryan Fitzpatrick found Taylor Thompson in the end zone just before the break to bring them within six.

After half time, the Jaguars regrouped and increased their lead back to 13 points when Henne moved his team downfield with some accurate throw and inside the five-yard line he handed the ball off to Jordan Todman, who shifted with pace over the left side to go in for the touchdown.

Two field goals from Rob Bironas brought the Titans back into the game as he fired kicks of 38 and 39 yards between the posts to reduce the deficit to seven points in the fourth quarter.

However, the Jaguars extended their lead when Titans guard Chance Warmack was penalised for holding in his own end zone and a safety was awarded to Gus Bradley's side to make it a two-score game.

The Titans came back again when Fitzpatrick moved the ball and went in for the score himself for a four-yard hard run through the middle of the line, but minutes later he made a costly error as he was stripped of the ball by Will Blackmon, who ran it in for a touchdown to hand the Jags a nine-point lead with time running out.

Fitzpatrick brought his side within two with 40 seconds left in the game when he found tight end Delanie Walker down the seam for a 14-yard touchdown, but the home side needed to gather the onside kick which they failed to do, allowing Gus Bradley to earn his first win as a head coach.
