Adrian Peterson has said that he will be disappointed if he is not named NFL Most Valuable Player this season.
The Minnesota Vikings running back came just nine yards short of setting a new single-season rushing record in 2012, less than a year after suffering a serious knee injury.
Peterson told NFL AM: "I will be a little disappointed. I feel like I put in a good body of work this season coming off the injury. And what I've done to help my team, to be in the position.

"Whether I win it or not, I feel like I am, inside, I'm the MVP."
Quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, and defensive end JJ Watt have also been linked to the award, which is handed out annually by the Associated Press.
