New York Jets coach Rex Ryan has revealed that he used inside knowledge from his son ahead of selecting former Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd.
Ryan's son, Seth, who is a freshman wide receiver at Clemson, has spent time working alongside Boyd and, with his endorsement, the Jets used the 213th overall pick to select him.
"We probably had more insight into his character with my son being there. My son talked about his leadership. He said he was the leader of that program as far as a player is concerned," Ryan is quoted as saying by ESPN.
The Jets now have four quarterbacks on their roster as Boyd will compete with Matt Simms behind both Geno Smith and Michael Vick.
