Oakland Raiders coach Dennis Allen has admitted his "surprise" at the performance of rookie wide receiver Brice Butler in the 19-17 pre-season win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Allen said that one good showing would not guarantee Butler a place in the 53-man roster, but that he would have to consider him should the standard remain high from the 23-year-old.
"Make no mistake about it; he's been a nice surprise," Allen told The AP. "When you get a seventh-round draft pick like that who's really developed, that's a good thing to have.
"But at the same time, I don't want him reading too much of his press clippings and start feeling too good about himself. He's still a rookie. He still has a long way to go, but he's off to a nice start."
Butler made 65 receptions for 901 yards during his college career.
