Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has said that he is excited about the future of the team having signed a new contract.
Carroll agreed a three-year extension to his deal earlier today, keeping him at the club until 2016 as they look to build upon their first ever Super Bowl success last season.
The 62-year-old, who is the league's second-oldest coach behind Tom Coughlin of the New York Giants, believes that the deal signifies the desire to build "something special" for the franchise.
"I think it's really exciting, it's really a statement of our commitment and our staying power and opportunity to do something special here," Carroll told The AP.
Carroll had previous spells with the New York Jets and the New England Patriots before joining the Seahawks in 2010.
