The World Boxing Organisation (WBO) has pledged to investigate Timothy Bradley's controversial victory over Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas last weekend.
Pacquiao and Bradley could be heading for a rematch after WBO president Francisco Valcarcel announced that the governing body will launch a probe into the result.
The American emerged victorious on points via split decision, with two judges awarding him 115-113 and a third scoring 115-113 for his opponent.
However, the outcome was heavily criticised in the wake of the bout, as widespread opinion suggests that Pacquiao was the winner.
"[The WBO], through its Championships Committee, will evaluate the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley, which ended in a controversial result," said Valcarcel in a statement.
"[The Championships Committee] will meet soon and examine the video of the fight with five renowned international judges, and according to what is found, it will make its recommendation in accordance with the rules."
Bradley, who moved up in weight to take on Pacquiao, claimed the welterweight title following the contentious result.
