Germany's Max Hoff raced to gold in the men's kayak single (K1) 5000m final at the European Games this afternoon.
The 32-year-old finished in a time of 20:01.864, more than 10 seconds ahead of Portugal's Fernando Pimenta (20:01.864), while France's Cyrille Carre took bronze (20:42.081).
Great Britain's Timothy Pendle was one of the 29 canoeists to start the race, but he failed to finish, while Ireland's Peter Egan came in 21st place.
Victory for Hoff was his second of the tournament, having claimed gold in the single (K1) 1000m final yesterday.
