Ukrainian Yuri Cheban has won the gold medal for the first ever Olympic 200m canoe sprint in emphatic style.
Cheban led from the start, opening up a commanding lead over Russian favourite Ivan Shtyl and former European Champion Jevgenij Shuklin from Lithuania.
The 26-year-old finished over half a second ahead of his rivals in 42.291s.
Shuklin came in second while Shtyl could only manage a bronze medal.
Earlier on, in the B-final, Polish-born Irishman Andrzej Jezierski just finished ahead of the field to regain some pride after missing out on a place in the medal race.
Ukraine now take their medal haul to 14, including four golds. They are 16th in the medal table.
