Australia captain Michael Clarke sustains a hamstring injury and is forced from the field on the final day of the first Test against India at Adelaide.

Australia captain Michael Clarke has been forced from the field with a hamstring injury on the final day of the first Test against India at Adelaide.

The 33-year-old sustained the injury while attempting to field a shot from Virat Kohli off the bowling of Nathan Lyon in the 44th over of the tourists' run chase.

Clarke immediately pulled up and was helped from the pitch by the physio, and then left the ground to undergo scans on his right leg at a nearby hospital.

The Baggy Greens skipper was a doubt to play in the match with a back injury, but powered through to score a century in the first innings while in discomfort with the problem.
