Michael Vaughan: 'England must call on one-day form in Ashes series'

Michael Vaughan insists that England's Test team must approach their upcoming Ashes series against Australia in the same way the ODI side did when overcoming New Zealand.

Michael Vaughan has urged England's Test team to take spirit from the one-day side if they are to prevail in the upcoming Ashes.

England beat New Zealand 3-2 in an enthralling ODI campaign in the build-up to their series against Australia, which gets underway in Cardiff next month.

On the back of their success against the Black Caps, Vaughan believes that there is plenty for England to build on in the coming months.

"They've got to be asking the one-day players what happened in that series and what was being talked about," he told Sky Sports News. "In the Test series we saw a different England with a different approach but in the one-day series it went up another level.

"The way that they played was a revelation compared to the way the one-day side has played in the past 20 years and the senior players were consistent to that. The senior core of Ian Bell, Alastair Cook, James Anderson and Stuart Broad will need to do exactly the same in the Ashes."

Vaughan played his last Test match for England against South Africa in 2008.
