Ian Bell: 'Resting bowlers is "crucial"

Ian Bell believes that the England selectors have made the right decision to rest three bowlers for Friday's match against the West Indies.

Ian Bell has backed the decision to rest some of England's bowlers for the final one-day international against the West Indies.

Stuart Broad, Tim Bresnan and Graeme Swann will play no part in the three-match series finale, which England have already won 2-0.

With both Australia and South Africa still to come this summer, Bell believes that having fresh bowlers will give England the best chance of continuing their winning streak at home.

"There's a heavy schedule coming up. We need to look after these guys," Bell told Sky Sports News. "The key to our success in one-day cricket is having five out-and-out class bowlers.

"So if we want to beat the Australians, we want these guys fit and fresh and ready to go.

"For the three guys who play in all three forms of the game it's going to be crucial."

Bell is expected to open the batting against the Windies at Headingley on Friday.
