James Anderson has admitted that England were happy with their display on day one of the third Test match against India in Kolkata earlier today.
Hosting India won the toss and opted to bat first on a pitch that some believed would favour the side that opened the batting.
However, touring England took wickets at regular intervals as India ended the day on 273-7.
"I felt like it was a pretty good pitch to bowl on. If you bent your back you got a bit out of it. It reverse swung for us as well. But the batsmen who got in on it have played pretty well," he told Sky Sports News.
"We knew it would reverse swing out here, it usually does and we're really pleased we managed to get some wickets with it.
"Taking seven wickets and keeping them to less than three an over is a pretty good effort from us [particularly after] losing the toss again, and we expected a pretty good batting pitch."
Anderson recorded bowling figures of 3-68.
