Bruce Martin has claimed that it was frustrating to be forced to wait a day longer for his Test debut for New Zealand.
The 32-year-old has been included in the team to face England in the first Test at the University Oval in Dundein but rain forced the first day to be abandoned, much to the dismay of Martin.
"To get through warm-ups and get a roll out there, it was a little frustrating to then sit in the shed all day and think about how it's all going to pan out," said the spinner.
"It has been 13, near 14, years of toiling away. I've never given up hope. I just think I needed a bit of a kick up the backside and a bit of a change."
Martin is now poised to begin his Test career on Tuesday evening.
