West Indies coach Ottis Gibson has said that the attitude within his squad has improved dramatically since he took over.

The 43-year-old revealed that he has instilled some of the coaching knowledge bestowed upon him while he was England's bowling coach up until he returned to the Caribbean in 2010.

Gibson, who is preparing his team to take on England this week, said that it was essential to restore professionalism within the Windies ranks.

"In the dressing room we are starting to have a lot more belief in ourselves and in what we're doing," The Mirror quotes Gibson as saying. "The players are taking a lot more pride in their cricket and in the situations they are in.

"When I first went to the Caribbean to take this job I saw a team that lacked belief and who didn't think they could compete with the big boys, now they go toe-to-toe and compete all the way.

"There must be certain standards that you live up to, so I worked hard on setting standards for discipline and for how elite athletes behave and perform. Since then the attitude, the commitment and the enthusiasm has improved tremendously."

Gibson was appointed England's bowling coach in 2007.
