The International Cycling Union have confirmed that disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong will be forced to pay back all the prize money received from winning the Tour de France seven times.
Questions were raised regarding the 41-year-old's fortune that he accumulated between 1999 and 2005 for winning the prestigious race after he was stripped of his titles following evidence of doping.
The American cyclist will be forced to return what is believed to be up to £2.4m, but Armstrong faces difficulties as reports have claimed that some of the prize money was shared between his US Postal teammates, some of whom were also found guilty of doping.
The UCI also confirmed that the seven victories taken away from Armstrong will not be awarded to any other rider and original finishing places will not be upgraded.
