Jack Laugher insists that he will be able to successfully land a forward four-and-a-half somersault in the Commonwealth Games 3m springboard final tonight.

England's Jack Laugher has insisted that he will be able to land his hardest dive successfully in the Commonwealth Games 3m springboard final when he goes for his second gold medal of the Games later this evening.

Laugher, 19, was the top qualifier in this morning's preliminaries, but was disappointed to only score 64 points on the forward four-and-a-half somersault, which has a difficulty rating of 3.8.

Australia's Grant Nel, who won bronze behind Laugher in yesterday's 1m springboard, failed his four-and-a-half somersault and didn't qualify for the 3m final.

"There was a lot of people struggling with it," Laugher told Sports Mole. "It's a hard dive to do in the morning. It's 11 o'clock in the morning and everyone's not fully awake yet.

"When you're putting massive DD (degree of difficulty) dives out there, especially when you're a little bit tired, you can lose a bit of concentration, you can be over the end of the board like Grant was. It can become a real struggle.

"I'm definitely going to be doing it tonight. It's one of my best dives - I scored 108 on it recently which was one of the best in the world. It's brilliant, I love the dive."

Laugher has a chance of winning gold in all three events that he has entered in Glasgow as he is clear favourite for both the 3m tonight and the 3m synchronised springboard with Chris Mears tomorrow.
