Jeremy Menez has given AC Milan a 1-0 lead over Napoli with an early strike at the San Siro.
It took the hosts just six minutes to break the deadlock as Menez displayed an impressive turn of pace after collecting the ball from Giacomo Bonaventura to storm into the box and slot past Rafael Cabral.
Napoli responded well to the early setback, but they struggled to turn pressure into clear chances as Diego Lopez kept Milan ahead by making a fine double save to keep out the visiting side's best efforts from Jonathan de Guzman and Jose Callejon.
After spending a long spell on the back foot, Milan came inches away from doubling their advantage when Andrea Poli drilled just wide following some clever play from Keisuke Honda.
The lively Callejon threatened again before the break, but Lopez continued to look comfortable as he gathered the Spaniard's low effort from the edge of the box.
