A header from Luca Antonelli has given Genoa a 1-0 lead at the halfway stage of their Serie A match against AC Milan this afternoon.
Jeremy Menez threatened in the opening stages when he charged towards the edge of the box and curled a strike that ended up safely in the gloves of Mattia Perin.
The Rossoneri soon worked another good chance to score as Pablo Armero's cross found Stephan El Shaarawy, but the striker's header was comfortably saved by the keeper.
Milan continued to look the more dangerous of the two sides, and Menez came close again when he burst through on goal before firing a low strike straight at Perin.
However, it was Genoa who took the lead in the 32nd minute, as Antonelli headed Diego Perotti's corner beyond the reach of Diego Lopez.
Milan almost found themselves two goals down at the break, but Perotti's strike from the edge of the box was cleared off the line by Daniele Bonera.
