AC Milan have announced that manager Massimiliano Allegri has been sacked after winning just five games in the first half of the season.
Widespread reports emerged overnight claiming that the Serie A outfit were poised to dismiss the coach following yesterday's 4-3 defeat to Sassuolo.
Despite Allegri admitting himself that he would leave the San Siro at the end of the season, Milan have decided to move forward his departure with the club sitting 11th in the table.
The 46-year-old, who took charge of Milan in 2010 after two years at Cagliari, has guided the Rossoneri to just 22 points from 19 games this campaign.
Allegri has had previous coaching stints at Aglianese, SPAL, Grosseto, Lecco and Sassuolo.
