Shanghai SIPG are reportedly interested in bringing AC Milan midfielder Keisuke Honda to China.
The Chinese outfit, who recently appointed Andre Villas-Boas as their new head coach, finished third in the Chinese Super League last season, which came to a close at the end of October.
It is understood that Villas-Boas will be given funds to improve the squad, and according to reports in Asia, Honda has emerged as a leading target for the Portuguese boss.
Honda, 30, will see his Milan contract expire at the end of the season and it is believed that talks over an extension have stalled as the two parties prepare to part ways next June.
The Japan international, who has previously played in Asia for Nagoya Grampus Eight, has only made three appearances for Milan this season.
