League Two leaders Burton Albion fell to a surprise defeat at the hands of Accrington Stanley this evening, with Josh Windass scoring a standout effort to give John Coleman's men a 1-0 win at the Store First Stadium.
Burton's Adam McGurk sought to send out a message in the opening stages of the game when he let fly from a free kick, only to see the resulting effort creep past the wrong side of the post.
Accrington took the lead without really threatening when Windass found some space outside of the box to release a memorable effort that flew past a helpless Jon McLaughlin to make it 1-0.
On a night where Albion struggled for chances in front of goal, the league leaders' best chance perhaps came in the second half through Darragh Lenihan, who fired wide to the right despite being given space outside of the area.
Albion sensed that an upset was on the cards and they threw all they had forward in the closing minutes, with Philip Edwards going close with a header that flew over the crossbar.
