Danny Bakker scored the only goal of the game to guide ADO den Haag to a 1-0 victory over AZ in their Eredivisie clash this evening.
The visitors took the lead in the ninth minute when Bakker latched on to a low ball into the box and fired his strike past Gino Coutinho.
Mike Havenaar almost double his side's lead when he powered a header at goal from close range after connecting with Roland Alberg's cross into the box.
Coutinho made a fine save to deny Alberg minutes later as he got down low to his right to palm the forward's low drive at goal away from the net.
In the second half, the visitors continued to press for a second goal and they won a free kick on the edge of the box, which was fired at goal by Alberg, but he saw his effort saved by Coutinho.
Jop van der Linden had a late effort for the home side when he lifted his attempt from a free kick over the wall, but Martin Hansen was there to make the stop.
AZ pressed late in the match, but their best strike came from Thom Haye, who could only blast his shot over the bar from the edge of the box as the visitors held out for the three points.
The result lifts ADO den Haag into 12th place in the table, while AZ remain in 10th.
