Anzhi Makhachkala defender Ewerton is confident that his team can progress to the quarter-finals of the Europa League following their 0-0 draw at home to Newcastle United in the first leg of their last-16 clash.
The Brazilian said that he was pleased with this evening's result, and insisted that his team is capable of getting a result at St James' Park in the return leg.
"It was a good result, but we could have won and achieved a good result at home," he told UOL. "The game in England is going to be harder but we can win. Their team is strong and they showed it on the pitch.
"It's important to add that we missed some of our experienced players. Willian's injury harmed our attacking strength.
"But we will work hard in the next days, and use the game in the Russian League on the weekend [as preparation] to try to advance in the Europa League".
The second leg takes place in Newcastle on the evening of March 14.
