Jon Daly's 19th-minute header has set Rangers on their way to another win as the Scottish League One champions look to preserve their unbeaten record at Arbroath.
His 25th goal of the season came when he got on the end of Fraser Aird's pinpoint corner and sent a rocket of an effort beyond Sandy Wood.
Daly had chances to put Ally McCoist's side in front earlier in the contest, but Arbroath also threatened the Gers defence in the opening minutes through Bobby Linn.
However, soon after taking the lead, Rangers were unlucky not to have extended that advantage when Aird's rasping shot rattled the woodwork.
With half time approaching, Daly almost added a second, but his strike was blocked by a scrambling Arboath defence.
