Arminia Bielefeld have been knocked out of the DFB-Pokal at the first hurdle after succumbing to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Hertha Berlin.
The visitors started brightly as Jens Hegeler headed just wide nine minutes in.
The home side also threatened towards the end of the first half, but neither side could open the scoring by the break.
Hertha drew first blood with just over 15 minutes to go in the match as Nico Schulz played in ex-Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou, who made no mistake in prodding the ball home from close range.
The hosts laboured in the latter stages in a bid to level the scores, but Pal Dardai's charges killed off the tie when Vladimir Darida tucked his shot into the bottom-left corner of Arminia's goal.
